Jet Ski Database Project
About:
This database was designed in the Spring of 2009 by a group of students from the University of Central Florida (UCF). The company that we did our database for was "Ski Guy". This company buys, sells, and repairs jet skis of all types, makes, and models. Currently "Ski Guy" doesn't have any database or way of keeping track of repairs that he has made to customers skis or an easy way to keep inventory. When we contacted him, he said he wanted a way to keep track of certain records that was easy and reliable.
The current main user of this database is going to be the owner of the shop with the idea of taking some of the info and making it into a website where customers can come and see what jet skis he has for sale, the type of work he can do to their jet skis, as well as get an estimated price quote for a certain service that he would perform on a customer's ski.
The database we have constructed will house a lot of information that the "Ski Guy" uses on a daily basis. With the use of this database he will be able to keep track of his inventory so at any given time he can see what he has avaiable to him and his customers as well as see if he needs to order more stock and from what vendors he needs to order from. This database will also help him keep his prices equal from job to job so he doesn't have to guess as to how much he charged a customer for doing the same job he has already done for one customer. The basis of this database is to help him keep better records which in turn help him become more profitable.
